Thompson is president and CEO of the Wisconsin Credit Union League & Affiliates (The League). Thompson is actively involved in The League’s state and federal legislative and regulatory efforts, having frequently testified before state committees on issues of interest to credit unions. Under Thompson’s leadership, the Wisconsin Credit Union League was honored in The Business Journal’s “Beyond the Paycheck” edition for its cultivation of leaders among staff. Prior to joining The League, Thompson was in the private practice of law for 17 years and served as managing shareholder of La Follette, Godfrey & Kahn in Madison. Thompson currently serves on the board of directors of the Credit Union National Association and its Government Affairs, Audit and Corporate Governance committees. He also serves on the Executive Board of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues as its second vice chair. Thompson graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin in 1980 and received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1984.
