Bud Miyamoto is a Business Development Representative for Market & Johnson. Prior to Market & Johnson, he served as executive director of the nonprofit business organization Downtown Mainstreet, Inc. (DMI) in La Crosse, WI. As executive director of DMI he was responsible for downtown’s economic rejuvenation by managing and implementing the “City Vision 2000 & 2020 Master Plans.” Under his leadership, over $205 million dollars of re-investment had been made in the downtown. Miyamoto’s work has led to recruitment of large corporations and various types of small to medium businesses, development of award winning beautification projects downtown and on the historic riverfront, and tremendous growth in downtown residential development. In 2002, downtown La Crosse was a recipient of the national Great American Main Street Award from the National Trust of Historic Preservation and selected as being the “Best Revitalized Downtown” in Wisconsin. Before 1992 when he began leadership at DMI, he spent 27 years in private business as vice-president of personnel, vice-president of operations and president of two restaurant franchisee companies. Miyamoto currently serves on La Crosse’s: Small Business/Commercial Loan Committee, City Vision Action Committee and the UW–La Crosse Chancellor’s Community Council. Previously, he served for nine years as a governor appointee on the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Board, seven years as one of 65 national Synod vice presidents of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, three years on the board of directors of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and most recently on the UW–La Crosse’s Search Committee for Dean of Students.
