Kellogg Commission on the Future of
State and Land-Grant Universities
The Kellogg Commission was formed in 1995 at the request of the National
Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges and examined
the role of public higher education in the United States. From 1995
to 2000 the Kellogg Commission wrote a series of reports focusing
on the student experience, student access, the engaged institution,
a learning society and campus culture. A final report addressed the
relationship between the public and public universities. An executive
summary briefly discussed the issues and challenges covered in depth
in previous reports and listed recommendations to meet those challenges.
